Be prepared for some Warhammer Online posts here in the next couple months – although I will try to restrain myself and not play too much, nor post too much. Or quit playing altogether, as I did with WoW when I started the second time over and realized I couldn’t at the same time play and exert moderation.
The reason why I stopped with Tabula Rasa and Age of Conan was different: I just didn’t like them that much.
Anyway, I chose a Gobbo Shaman (good Shaman overview), “Gnorr” on Karak Ungor. Here he is (currently rank 8 and renown rank 6):
I really like the class so far; it’s way more like I always imagined a Shaman to be than the WoW ones ever were. And, Gobbos being small (like WoW Gnomes) and evil (completely unlike Gnomes) and chaotic (even more unlike you-know-who) and generally awesome, the race fits me as well. I didn’t play Orks in WH40k for naught.
I had started a Tzeentch Magus first (funny enough, I never heard the name “Tzeentch” mentioned in the game itself, just “the Raven God” or whatever), but it’s just too human for me I guess – particularly the enemies, of course, being Empire and all – and the story takes itself too serious. And the second region after the very start, rank 6 and up a bit, was kinda like “drawn-out, boring forest” – when I got bored enough, I rerolled. I always was a Nurgle person when it comes to Chaos gods anyway…
Additionally, doing RvR as the Magus, I realized a few things:
- Magi are way too squishy (although I didn’t play with any kind of crowd control, I’m sure they get that later)
- Opposing healers are incredibly annoying
- The Destruction side doesn’t seem to have enough healers, I never got a single heal
Even more reasons to go with a healer, particularly when it packs such a punch like the Gobbo Shaman does, too.
Now, off I go to blast some stunties. WAAAAGH!
